Electric Zoo !
I have heard amazing things about this event. I have been to festivals on Randall's Island and they are always a good time. Check out Sarah Juke's article below and the link above to sample some of the cool artists playing this event. J / Prehab
Now in its sixth year, Electric Zoo is New York City’s premiere electronic music festival. It’s held across three full days over the Labor Day long weekend (August 29 - 31) on Randall’s Island, a small island on the East River next to Manhattan.
This year, Electric Zoo boasts over 135 acts performing across six separate stages. All forms of electronic music will be represented, with acts featuring music from across the electronic spectrum including house, trap, EDM, dubstep, indie, electro, trance, and hip hop.
This year the lineup features international festival regulars and big name acts like David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, and Zedd. It also caters for what I personally tend to gravitate to -- explosive sets under smaller tents that pump out danceable house from quality acts like Bonobo, Kidnap Kid, Sasha, and Jamie xx.
Having attended this festival before, I can tell you that the Electric Zoo experience is about two things: the music and the setting. It’s about the sensations, the lighting, the collective energy, and the thrill of experiencing quality electronic music on such a grand scale. At the same time, it’s also about the green grass underfoot, the gathering of your best dance-minded buddies and enjoying the end of summer sun on your shoulders as it sets over the Manhattan skyline.
